CAFBLA wants your help!

Hello California FBLA,

Many of you may have heard about the recent flood at the location of our 2010 National Leadership Conference (NLC). It would be great for all of us to join in on the campaign to help rebuild the Nashville community in the aftermath of the flood. You can refer here for more details: http://www.fbla-pbl.org/docs/FloodRelief.pdf.

California FBLA has decided to focus on bringing school supplies for the flood relief. If you are attending the NLC this year, please consider supporting Nashville with school supply donations (pens, pencils, notebooks, etc.). You can drop off donations at the Flood Relief station, located in the conference registration area at the NLC.

Thank you for your support!

Your 2010-2011 State Officer Team

National Leadership Conference and New Officer Team

The officer team for the following school year has been formally selected and announced. You can view the new team here. The website will be fully updated during the summer holiday with officer profiles and information.

Detailed information for NLC2010

Rooming groups are now posted. View them here.

Flight Information

Our flight to Nashville departs at 8:25AM. Monta Vista FBLA needs to show up at 6:30AM in order to distribute tickets, boarding passes, and undergo myriad security and check-in procedures. We will attempt to obtain Priority A boarding, since Southwest has open seating on their flights.

Hotel Information

MVFBLA will be staying in the Club Hotel Nashville. This is less prestigious than the DoubleTree across the street however we will still have free breakfast and free internet.

View competition schedules, detailed flight information on the NLC Details page (link above)

Best of luck to competitors in preparing for their competitions.

Kennedy Middle School Graduation

Hey MVFBLA! (:

Remember how amazing the decorations in the gym were for your Kennedy grad dance?

You can help make this event even better for this year's eighth graders by helping decorate the gym for their graduation party!

The schedule is as follows:

Saturday, June 5th: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Sunday, June 6th: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

You can volunteer anytime for either of the days. KMS would like for volunteers to be there at least 2 hours.

Please reply to the following EVite so we can get an idea of how many people can help out:

Congratulations MVFBLA!

Congratulations to everyone who placed at SLC2010.

In addition to our outstanding competitive performance, Eric Wong was elected as State Parliamentarian. You can find photos on Facebook (SLC2010, 5 albums) from the conference. The complete SLC 2010 winners listing is also available for download.

NLC Information

You'll need to turn in the Code of Conduct and Medical Release forms to a competitions officer before May 10 or there will be a late fee imposed by CAFBLA (which of course, we will pass on to you for not being punctual. In addition, inform Comps ASAP if you are not attending NLC - we have had quite a few people drop SLC past our deadlines, and as a result they had to pay the full $310 conference fee as we have registered them already. NLC costs much more, so don't waste your money.

Be on the lookout from the Competitions Team for further NLC updates.

Once again, congratulations to everyone who placed in their competitions and see you all soon!

SLC 2010 Updates

SLC 2010 is coming up quickly! Make sure you are preparing well for your competitions.

The cost of SLC 2010 is now $310. Make your checks out to MVFBLA. Release forms (see bottom of post) are due on 2 April.

Transportation to SLC will be via bus (Quality Assurance). Buses will depart at 6:45 sharp, with or without you so do NOT be late! We will be making two rest stops along the way for stretch breaks and food - bring some money unless you intend to neither eat nor drink for the duration of the 8 hour (approx.) bus ride. We hope to avoid the LA traffic by the time we reach Southern California, which is why we are leaving so early in the morning.

Rooming groups can be viewed here. Please note that all groups are final and Competitions will not be able to accomodate any changes at this time. If you sent in a rooming group you were placed with your group, and if you were not you were placed into a random group.

The tentative schedule for SLC 2010 is now available. Competitions will have more details about testing sessions, but presentation competitions can check their presentation times on the document now.

The Complete Conference Guide courtesy of MVFBLA Technology Directorate is now available! Check it out today! It will be constantly updated with new information up to about a week or two before States so be sure to check it often.

Congratulations Bay Competitors!

Congratulations everyone on a well-done Bay Section LC!

Overall we had more than 20 competitors qualifying to attend the State Leadership Conference.

In addition to our competitive performance, the Bay Section President and Vice-Presidential elections ended in our favour - Angela Gu (current Bay Secretary) and Hung-Jen Wu (current MV PwB Director) were elected to President and Vice-President respectively, resulting in MVFBLA dominating the Bay Section.

You can check out our BSLC photos on Facebook (ah crazy Parli pictures...). We will be uploading them to the site shortly.

Stay tuned for updates about States study sessions and conference information from the Competitions Team, and congratulations everyone on a great kick-off to the 2010 competitive season!
